He says this is supposed to intimidate people trying to pick the lock, because you have to pick it 4 times. Then proceeds to pick the lock by scratching inside of it a bit using some thin metal tools.
I have seen one of these locks before. It was on a car steering wheel lock. I picked it within a minute - that it turned - but did not open the lock. Thanks for your video. I know now that I did not 'finish' picking the lock. All these years I thought the lock was broken.
I wonder if it can be engineered so that all four sections need to be picked at the same time before it turns and unlocks. I imagine that would make picking it much more difficult
these locks are typically used in asia for the outer security door, quite common. usually acompanied with a second door preferably with deadbolts. source, my gramps house in HK
my grandma in taiwan has this lock and its always confusing since I turn it once but then she tells me to turn it again and then that repeats 3 more times until the door is open lmao
I did a challenge starving my dog gave him 1 piece of food today he stood on two leg's. I felt like I was going to be shot cause i left my gun on the table and he was eyeing it Fuck that challenge now I'm not getting shot by a dog
As other Taiwanese said in the comment, yes, this kind of lock is quite common in here. The keyway might be special, but the latch-locking knob is literally everywhere. I used to lock my home like this everyday before I went to the college. The Dual Cylinder Disc Brake Lock in 552 is also from Taiwan, BTW.
its honestly just a lock thats made to take ages to pick and give time for someone to report it and a type of lock that makes people think that when they think they picked it they try to open the door and it doesn't open so they think it didn't work and continue and after all the attempts they just simply get to the stage that was blocked
@Ties de Jong Yes! Fucking smash their wondow, don't pull up with 27 different lockpicking tools! Hell you don't even have to smash the window! Just lockpick the fucking window instead! Much easier than pulling up with 20 lockpicking tools!
